SLASH Filmfestival and 'The Uprising' movie announcement

The SLASH Filmfestival is returning for its 17th edition from September 23 to October 4. Held in selected cinemas in Vienna, the festival focuses on horror, action, science fiction, and fantasy. This year's program includes an 'Unsafe Spaces' retrospective dedicated to American grindhouse cinema, featuring original 35mm copies of exploitation and trash films from the 1970s and 80s, accompanied by film studies lectures.

Additionally, the historical epic 'The Uprising – Für die Freiheit' is scheduled for release on September 10, 2026. Directed, written, and produced by Paul Greengrass, the film depicts the English Peasants' Revolt of 1381. The production features Andrew Garfield, Cosmo Jarvis, and Jamie Bell, and explores themes of social injustice and tyranny under King Richard II.
