Slavi Trifonov questions military readiness of presidential candidates

Slavi Trifonov, leader of the 'There Is Such a People' (ITN) party, has criticized presidential candidates Iliyana Yotova and Andrey Gyurov regarding their ability to serve as Commander-in-Chief of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

Trifonov expressed doubts about their military preparedness, noting a lack of combat experience for Yotova and stating that Gyurov has no background in military life. He argued that their lack of expertise raises questions about their capacity to issue instructions to high-level military command or make critical decisions during a potential conflict.

Additionally, Trifonov dismissed recent rhetoric from current President Rumen Radev and Andrey Gyurov regarding the stakes of the upcoming election. He rejected Radev’s assertion that the vote is a choice between peace and war, as well as Gyurov’s claim that the election is a choice between a European future and the 'Putinization' of the country. Trifonov characterized the upcoming Sunday vote as a choice between two undesirable options, using the metaphor of choosing between 'Petrohan' and 'Buzludzha'.
