Slavia Prague fined 10 million CZK and stadium closed for four games after derby violence

During the Saturday Prague derby, Slavia supporters stormed the pitch, threw flares and attacked Sparta players while Slavia led 3‑2. The match was abandoned and the league’s disciplinary committee awarded a 3‑0 forfeit win to Sparta. Slavia was hit with a record 10 million CZK fine, a four‑match closure of Eden stadium for spectators and a loss of about 50 million CZK in ticket revenue. Sparta received a 600 000 CZK fine. The club accepted the sanctions without appeal. In the aftermath, the Prague municipal council cancelled the planned training centre in Šeberov, removing a potential new facility for Slavia’s A‑team. Minister of Sport Boris Šťastný announced a working group to amend the misdemeanor law, proposing a ban on face coverings at sporting events, higher penalties for pitch invasions, and the possible use of facial‑recognition cameras, with input from the FAČR and other ministries. Disciplinary committee president Jiří Matzner called the incident “one of the most serious and condemnable moments in Czech football history.”
