Slavia Sofia protests refereeing and VAR decisions after loss to CSKA 1948

Slavia Sofia has issued a sharp protest against the officiating and the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system following their 1:2 defeat to CSKA 1948. The club specifically challenged a penalty decision awarded to the opposition, which resulted in the winning goal.

In an official statement, the club expressed a loss of confidence in impartial and objective refereeing. They criticized head referee Radoslav Gighenov, alleging that he relied on the VAR officials in the mobile unit without personally reviewing the footage on the monitor to verify the decision. Slavia further noted that in four out of their ten league matches so far, they have lost eight points specifically due to VAR interventions.
