Slavonski Brod commemorates Luka Andrijanić, Vukovar defender
Slavonski Brod held a ceremony to mark the 35th anniversary of the death of Luka Andrijanić, a young Croatian defender known for his role in the defense of Vukovar during the Homeland War.
Andrijanić, who was 19 years old at the time, utilized anti-aircraft training he had received during his service in the JNA at Batajnica to combat enemy aircraft. During the defense of Vukovar, he is credited with shooting down four enemy aircraft, including a Jastreb J-21 near the Đergaj silos on August 24, 1991.
Wreaths were laid at his grave in the Slavonski Brod City Cemetery by Deputy Mayor Marina Martić Puača and Ivan Tucić, representing the Brod-Posavina County.
