Slavonski Brod Mayor proposes city administration reorganization
Mayor Šime Erlić has submitted a proposal to the City Council for a reorganization of the Slavonski Brod administration. The plan maintains 12 administrative departments and an Internal Audit Service but redistributes responsibilities to improve coordination and project implementation.
Key changes include splitting the Department for Spatial Planning and Construction into two separate entities: one focusing on spatial plans, urban investments, and environmental protection, and another dedicated to issuing construction and usage permits. Additionally, economic affairs will be linked with city property and affordable housing to better address the needs of residents, particularly regarding housing for young people and families.
Another department will combine communal activities, traffic, and island development, overseeing infrastructure maintenance, public transport, parking, and pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
However, critics argue the reorganization strips local committees of their remaining significant authority. They claim the plan transfers the management of local community centers to the municipal company Brod-Turist d.o.o., which they contend violates the City Statute and undermines the purpose of local committees.
