SLB OneSubsea wins ExxonMobil contract for Mozambique Rovuma LNG project
SLB OneSubsea has secured a contract from ExxonMobil to supply subsea production systems for the first phase of the Rovuma LNG megaproject in Mozambique’s Area 4. The contract includes the supply of subsea production trees, manifolds, and control systems, alongside engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and installation support services for deep-water natural gas production.
In conjunction with this contract, SLB OneSubsea plans to establish a regional services base in Mozambique to support operators across the area, which is expected to foster local training and employment. This development follows recent activity by the Rovuma LNG partners, who in August awarded approximately $1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts.
To prepare the local workforce, ExxonMobil and its partners—including ENH, CNPC, Eni, KOGAS, and XRG—have launched a national awareness campaign across six provinces. The initiative aims to connect students, graduates, and professionals with opportunities in the expanding energy sector. Additionally, the partners are investing $40 million in the Mozambique Technology Center in Maputo to train up to 250 people per day in sectors such as energy, construction, and infrastructure.
