Sleep apnea linked to cardiovascular risks and subsidized testing in Chile

New research and healthcare updates highlight the medical and financial aspects of sleep apnea. A study from Flinders University in Australia, published in the journal ‘Sleep’, indicates that individuals experiencing drastic variations in sleep apnea severity from one night to the next face a 30% higher risk of heart attack, stroke, or heart failure.

In Chile, Fonasa is offering a financial alternative for sleep apnea studies through the ‘Bono PAD’. For members in categories B, C, or D, the cost of the study can be significantly reduced. While the treatment typically costs approximately $377,500, the Bono PAD allows patients to pay roughly $28,310 at the time of the procedure by utilizing an associated loan that covers 85% of the copayment.
