Sleep quality and facial appearance linked to environment and posture

Factors influencing sleep quality and physical appearance include bedroom environment and sleeping posture. Utilizing color psychology, experts suggest that bedroom decor can significantly impact relaxation. Soft, neutral tones such as beige, sand, light gray, and warm white provide a calm, orderly base, while light shades of blue, green, or lavender can enhance serenity without overstimulating the space.

Regarding physical impact, aesthetic physician Dr. María José Ubillos Minondo notes that consistent sleeping positions can affect facial appearance. While sleeping on one side does not deform bone structure, the repeated pressure on soft tissues—such as skin and superficial fat—can contribute to facial asymmetry. Over time, as skin elasticity decreases with age, this sustained compression may cause one side of the face to appear flatter or more sagging compared to the other.
