Sleep quality impacts academic performance and physical health
Research and nutritional guidance highlight the critical connection between sleep quality, physical health, and cognitive performance. A study involving 1,149 students at the University of Pittsburgh demonstrated that improving sleep duration can directly enhance academic grades. In the study, students encouraged to sleep at least seven hours per night showed improved performance compared to a control group.
To support sleep health, various supplements are utilized to address different needs such as stress, muscle tension, or circadian rhythm disruptions. Options include melatonin, magnesium, GABA, 5-HTP, ashwagandha, and herbal extracts like Melissa officinalis (lemon balm). For instance, lemon balm extracts are used to manage evening agitation and promote relaxation without directly altering circadian rhythms.
