Sleep specialist recommends routine for heatwave discomfort

Dr. Jérôme Liotier, a sleep specialist and founder of Somnum Clinics, suggests a four-step routine to help manage discomfort during heatwaves.

To improve sleep quality in hot weather, he recommends taking a lukewarm shower one to two hours before bedtime to create a transition period without causing an intense cold shock. Additionally, keeping a glass of fresh water near the bed can prevent sleep disruptions caused by thirst. Regarding alcohol consumption, the routine advises allowing a margin of three to four hours between the last drink and bedtime to avoid interfering with sleep cycles.
