Sleepless Moon opera to premiere in Hong Kong

The original cross-border opera ‘Sleepless Moon’, which blends Cantonese opera, Western opera, and string music, is scheduled to premiere at the Hong Kong Eastern Arts Centre Theatre from October 1 to 4.

Lead actress and Cantonese opera performer Lam Wing-si expressed high expectations for the production, praising the organizers for their vision and investment in stage and costume design. While traveling in the United States for prior work commitments, Lam conducted online vocal rehearsals with her instructor to prepare for the role. During her trip, she also visited various performance venues to gain artistic inspiration.

The production features a cast including producer Tam Sun-keung, veteran actress Michelle Reis, male lead Ngan Ka-lok, and music director Chow Hiu-ching. The team is currently in final rehearsals for the upcoming premiere of the production, which tells a thousand-year-old love story.
