Sleman advances investment incentives and public transport plans

The Sleman Regency Government is advancing several initiatives to bolster regional development and infrastructure. To stimulate economic growth, the government is drafting a Regional Regulation (Raperda) on Investment Incentives and Facilities. This regulation aims to provide legal certainty, fiscal incentives, and non-fiscal ease for investors to accelerate investment realization and job creation.

In the second quarter of 2026, Sleman recorded investment totaling Rp931.7 billion, consisting of Rp125.7 billion in foreign investment and Rp806 billion in domestic investment across 2,449 projects. The largest investment sectors include electricity, gas, and water, followed by transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications. Singapore emerged as the largest foreign investor in the region during this period.

Simultaneously, the Sleman Transportation Agency is preparing the ‘Trans Sembada’ public transport service. This initiative is designed to mitigate potential traffic congestion resulting from the upcoming Jogja-Solo and Jogja-Bawen toll road developments. The project is currently in the regulatory preparation stage and aims to integrate with the existing Trans Jogja network to manage changing community mobility patterns.
