Sleman apartments face housing and management challenges

Vertical housing in Sleman Regency has not yet become a complete solution for community housing needs. According to Agung Yuntoro, head of the Formal Housing Working Team at DPUPKP Sleman, most of the approximately 18 private apartments in the area are used as investment instruments rather than primary residences.

Many owners already possess homes in Yogyakarta or other regions, leading them to rent out their apartment units. This trend detaches apartment ownership from actual residential necessity.

Management issues also persist within the sector. Of the 18 apartments, two have been declared bankrupt. Furthermore, only five have formed a House Ownership and Occupancy Association (P3SRS). The remaining associations face various challenges ranging from minor administrative issues to legal disputes. The local government continues to provide guidance and facilitate the resolution of these management problems.
