Sleman police investigate abandoned infant found in Pasar Klitikan

A male infant, estimated to be approximately one week old, was discovered in a cardboard box at the Pasar Klitikan area in Sleman on Friday morning, August 14, 2026.

A local resident found the baby around 05:00 WIB after hearing crying sounds. The infant was found accompanied by a blanket, diapers, and wet wipes. According to Polresta Sleman Public Relations Officer Iptu Argo Anggoro, the baby appeared clean and healthy upon discovery.

The infant was immediately evacuated to RSUD Sleman for medical examination and care. Local police are currently conducting an investigation to identify the parents or the individuals responsible for leaving the child at the market.
