Sleman Regency selected as pilot for social welfare center transformation

The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs is spearheading a transformation of the Social Welfare Center (Puskesos) to expand its role in community service. The initiative aims to evolve Puskesos from a simple service point into a comprehensive hub for receiving complaints, facilitating service referrals, and driving community empowerment.

Sumberejo Village in the Tempel District of Sleman Regency has been selected as the initial pilot location for this transformation. Mira Riyati, Director General of Social Empowerment at the Ministry of Social Affairs, stated that the goal is to strengthen social welfare services by bringing them closer to the people through community profiling, assistance, and fostering independence. The Sleman Regency government is expected to coordinate with local village officials to support the trial.
