SLEP Iquique upgrades schools with new printers and expanded fiber‑optic network

The Servicio Local de Educación Pública (SLEP) in Iquique, Chile, has increased technology resources in 14 schools across Iquique and Alto Hospicio. The initiative adds color printers from Canon and expands the fiber‑optic and wireless network through a contract with GTD, boosting bandwidth, coverage and telephone services.

The investment totals roughly $670 million Chilean pesos, including an initial $334 million for printers and $336 million for connectivity, plus a contract increase of about $100 million. School officials said the upgrades will improve access to digital platforms, learning materials and overall pedagogical work. Najle Majluf Morales, SLEP executive director, emphasized the commitment to better educational conditions, while Hector Inostroza Rojas, director of Liceo CEIA José Alejandro Soria Varas, highlighted the significance for the community.
