Sliedrecht students lead traffic safety campaign

Students from grade 7 at the Anne de Vriesschool in Sliedrecht participated in a traffic safety campaign on September 8. Working alongside Veilig Verkeer Nederland, local police, and Alderman Boudewijn Brandwijk, the students monitored vehicle speeds along the Baanhoek area.

During the initiative, students used a laser gun to measure the speed of passing motorists. Drivers adhering to the speed limit were greeted with smiling face icons, while those exceeding the limit received disappointed face icons and were addressed by a community police officer. Additionally, students created posters promoting a 30 km/h speed limit to increase awareness among parents and motorists.

The campaign is part of the ‘Make a point of zero (traffic victims)’ mission by ROV Zuid-Holland, aimed at promoting safer road behavior at the start of the new school year.
