Slipknot officially parts ways with Sid Wilson after 28 years
Slipknot has officially confirmed the departure of longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson, ending his nearly 30-year tenure with the heavy metal band. The announcement was made via a brief statement on social media, which was later deleted from the band’s primary accounts but remained visible on the official Knotfest Instagram page. The statement noted, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
The band did not provide specific reasons for the split. However, the announcement follows weeks of intense speculation and reports from TMZ suggesting that Wilson had been removed due to interpersonal issues and his treatment of bandmates. Guitarist Jim Root previously addressed the rumors on Instagram, urging fans to “not believe everything you read” and to wait for more information, later admitting his initial comments did not age well once the departure was confirmed.
Wilson, known as “No. 0,” joined the Iowa-based group in 1998 and has appeared on all seven of their studio albums. His exit follows a period of personal transition, including a highly publicized split from former fiancée Kelly Osbourne.
