Slipknot parts ways with DJ Sid Wilson after nearly 30 years
Heavy metal band Slipknot has officially announced that they are no longer associated with longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson, effective immediately. The announcement was shared via the official Instagram account for the band’s Knotfest festival after initial posts on the band’s own social media and website were briefly deleted.
Wilson, known as “No. 0,” joined the group in 1998 and has been a member for nearly 30 years. While the band’s official statement did not provide specific reasons for the split, it noted, “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Prior to the official confirmation, reports from TMZ suggested the decision was due to dissatisfaction with Wilson’s behavior toward his bandmates. Although guitarist Jim Root initially urged fans to “not believe everything you read” and wait for more information, Wilson has since signaled the end of his tenure by updating his Instagram bio to read “@slipknot 1997-2026.”
This departure follows a series of lineup changes for the Iowa-based band, including the exits of Craig Jones and Jay Weinberg in 2023.
