Sllatinë community condemns illegal landfill fires

The local community in Sllatinë, near Tetovë, has condemned a recent fire at a waste landfill, labeling the act a crime against nature. This incident is part of a recurring issue in the Pollogu region, where illegal and wild landfills are frequently set on fire.

Local authorities in Sllatinë are calling for stricter legal punishments for those who intentionally set fires, emphasizing that such actions cause significant damage to trees, wildlife, and agricultural land. Despite the ongoing pattern of intentional fires causing environmental pollution and property damage, no individuals have yet been held legally accountable for these incidents in the Pollogu region.

Similar fires previously impacted the Tearca municipality during the summer, affecting agricultural fields in Tearca and Përshefcë, though those were localized by firefighters.
