Slobodan Kašćelan disrupts murder trial in Podgorica
Slobodan Kašćelan, identified as a leader of the Kavač criminal clan, caused disruptions during a trial at the High Court in Podgorica. Kašćelan, who is accused of involvement in the murders of Damir Hodžić and Adis Spahić, refused to sit in the courtroom, claiming he was too ill to follow the proceedings.
During the hearing, Kašćelan repeatedly demanded a medical examination, citing health issues resulting from an ongoing multi-day hunger strike in prison. He refused multiple orders from Judge Nikola Boričić to sit in the defendant's dock, stating, “I am not a donkey,” and expressing a desire to respect his religious beliefs while unwell.
The proceedings were temporarily suspended to allow a medical expert, Nemanja Radojević, to examine the defendants. While defense lawyers argued that Kašćelan required a psychiatrist rather than a pathologist, the expert initially determined that the defendants were capable of participating in the main hearing.
