Slobodan Šnajder, prominent Croatian writer, dies at 79
Croatian writer, dramatist, and publicist Slobodan Šnajder has passed away at the age of 79. The news was confirmed by his daughter via his Facebook page.
Born in Zagreb in 1948, Šnajder was a prominent figure in contemporary Croatian literature. He studied philosophy and anglistics at the University of Zagreb and was a co-founder and long-time editor of the theater magazine Prolog.
His extensive body of work includes plays, essays, and prose, often exploring the relationship between individuals and ideological systems. His notable works include the plays Kamov, smrtopis and Hrvatski Faust, as well as the award-winning novel Doba mjedi, which received the Meša Selimović Award.
