Slobozia state of alert extended for sewage compliance

The Ialomița County Committee for Emergency Situations has approved a 30-day extension of the state of alert for the municipality of Slobozia and the communes of Scânteia, Ciulnița, Cosâmbești, and Mărculești, effective September 18.

The measure follows the suspension of the environmental permit for SC Urban SA, the operator responsible for water supply and sewage services in these areas. The extension allows the company to continue rehabilitation, sanitation, and compliance efforts regarding the sewage system and the Slobozia Wastewater Treatment Plant.

SC Urban SA is currently implementing an Emergency Breakdown and Compliance Plan to address non-conformities in treated wastewater discharge. Ongoing works include cleaning pumping stations and optimizing the technological flow of the treatment plant to meet regulatory limits and reduce pollutant loads.
