Slovak cities advance green mobility network and illuminate historic port crane

The city of Prešov is moving forward with its “Green Rings” initiative, a study that will guide the creation of a sustainable mobility corridor linking parks, rivers and residential districts across the city. The plan includes non‑motorised transport routes, flood‑risk measures, biodiversity spaces and areas for sport, leisure and education. Officials say the approved study will form the basis for detailed project documentation and integration into the city’s spatial plan.

In Komárno, the iconic river‑port crane will receive decorative LED lighting, turning the historic industrial structure into a nightly landmark along the Danube. The lighting, installed by Public Ports Ltd. and operated by the municipal company KN Smart Servis, will initially shine in the city’s tricolour and can later be altered for holidays and events. The project highlights the town’s industrial heritage while enhancing the riverside promenade for residents and visitors.
