Slovak citizen detained at Polish border under European Arrest Warrant

A Slovak citizen was detained at the Krościenko border crossing on October 5 while attempting to leave Poland. Authorities discovered he was wanted in Slovakia under a European Arrest Warrant for domestic violence, an offense carrying a potential prison sentence of up to eight years.

The arrest follows a separate incident the previous day in the Bieszczady region. During a routine traffic stop by the Border Guard in Ustrzyki Górne, the man allegedly assaulted an officer, causing physical injuries. Following that encounter, he was brought to the prosecutor's office in Sanok, where he admitted guilt and faced a suspended sentence and a fine of 40,000 PLN.

The individual is currently in custody pending legal proceedings to facilitate his extradition to Slovakian law enforcement.
