Slovakia's comedy sequel Kavej 2 opens nationwide cinemas

The sequel to the popular Slovak comedy Kavej premiered across the country on 23 July, moving from open‑air festival screenings to a full theatrical distribution. Directed by Lukáš Zednikovič and written by Michaela Zakuťanská, the film continues the lives of Klára, Veronika and other characters that resonated with audiences in the first movie.

Returning cast members include Jana Kovalčiková, Anna Jakab Rakovská, Pavol Šimun and Lenka Barilíková, while new faces such as Kristián Baran, Daniel Žulčák and Robo Jakab expand the story. Zednikovič emphasized that the team “never wanted to make a film that lives only on gags; we want viewers to laugh and also see themselves in the characters.” The premiere drew strong applause and emotional reactions, with audiences describing the experience as “a big hug” from the filmmakers.

The release follows a summer tour that generated enthusiastic crowd responses, positioning Kavej 2 as one of the season's most anticipated Slovak comedies.
