TasteAtlas ranks top 10 Slovak desserts
The gastronomic portal TasteAtlas has released a ranking of the top 10 Slovak desserts based on user ratings. The list highlights traditional sweets that are often associated with childhood and regional heritage.
At the top of the ranking is the doughnut (šišky), a fried dough pastry typically served with jam or powdered sugar. The Skalica trdelník, a traditional chimney cake with protected geographical status, secured the second position. Other highly rated items include various types of koláče (sweet pastries filled with poppy seeds, curd, or jam), laskonky (crispy meringue-like wafers with cream), and semolina porridge (krupicová kaša).
The list also features nostalgic classics such as rice pudding (ryžový nákyp) and bear paws (medvie labky). These rankings reflect the popularity of Slovak culinary traditions both domestically and among international users of the platform.
