Slovakia mourns the death of radio host and DJ Julo Python
The Slovak radio and music scene is mourning the passing of prominent moderator and DJ Julo Matúš, widely known by his nickname Python. He died at the age of 60 following an oncological illness.
Matúš was a pioneer of private broadcasting in Slovakia, having worked at Fun Rádiu since 1990. He was particularly well-known for his radio segment ‘Stará, natoč gramofón’ and for his close professional collaboration with the late radio legend Julo Viršík. Beyond the airwaves, he was a recognized video DJ specializing in pop and dance music from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.
Colleagues and members of the DJ community, including Robert Majling, have expressed their condolences to his family, describing him as a legend who will be deeply missed by generations of listeners.
