Slovak employees can claim up to €275 recreation allowance

Employees in Slovakia can receive a recreation allowance of up to €275 from their employers to help offset holiday expenses. Under current regulations, employers with at least 50 employees are required to provide this benefit, while smaller companies may offer it voluntarily.

To qualify, an employee must have been continuously employed by the same company for at least 24 months. The benefit covers 55 percent of eligible expenses, up to the maximum cap. Starting in January 2025, the rules will expand to allow employees to use the funds for their parents' vacations, even if the employee does not personally attend the trip.

Additionally, the timing of holidays can impact vacation pay. Because holiday compensation is calculated based on the average earnings from the previous calendar quarter, bonuses or seasonal pay fluctuations can result in different daily rates for employees with the same base salary.
