Slovak film ‘Prameň’ shortlisted for European Film Academy awards

The Slovak-Czech-Hungarian drama ‘Prameň’ (internationally titled ‘Only Beautiful Things to Look At’) has been selected by the European Film Academy as one of 45 feature films in contention for its prestigious awards. Directed by Ivan Ostrochovský and starring Aňa Geislerová, the film explores a sensitive chapter of history involving a doctor in a regional hospital during the mid-1980s.

The narrative follows a doctor whose perspective on her work is challenged by a new friendship with a young orderly. The film addresses the historical issue of forced sterilizations of Roma women, examining themes of personal responsibility and the consequences of institutionalized practices. The selection follows the film's previous recognition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
