Slovak Finance Minister Kamenický plans 2025 budget, rejects provisional option

Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický said he has already drafted a fiscal framework for next year’s budget and met with Prime Minister Robert Fico to discuss it. He emphasized the need to finalize the budget by the statutory deadline of 15 October, while personally preferring a September presentation to avoid complications from upcoming municipal elections and the approaching 2027 parliamentary vote.

Kamenický also addressed the proposed transaction tax, describing it as “inflated” and noting its estimated revenue of about €450 million. He indicated willingness to offset the tax if suitable compensation is found, stressing that such concessions could aid the budget’s acceptance in parliament.
