Slovak government allocates over €3.3 million to north‑east municipalities, €1.4 million for Levoča waste upgrade

The Slovak cabinet, during a meeting in Malcov, approved more than €3.3 million for projects in the north‑eastern districts of Bardejov, Levoča, Snina and Poprad. Over €2.4 million of the sum is earmarked for specific municipal and organisational initiatives, including €250,000 for a CT scanner at Ľubovnianska Hospital, €150,000 for equipment at the Medzilaborce health centre, and €80,000 to support the "Rock pod kameňom" music festival in Snina.

Levoča will receive a record €1.4 million non‑returnable grant to modernise its waste‑management system. The project will install 51 new waste stations, 96 lockable mixed‑waste boxes, and an electronic chip‑based access system, alongside an extensive public‑information campaign. The total cost of the initiative is about €1.55 million, financed by EU funds, the state budget and the municipality.

The allocation also tasks several ministries with follow‑up actions, such as studying a water‑reserve option for eastern Slovakia, a temporary military bridge over the Ondava River, a road‑segment feasibility study, and a methodology for zoning general hospitals based on regional accessibility.
