Slovak ice rinks adopt electromagnetic technology for ice production
Several ice rinks in Slovakia, including facilities in Košice, Banská Bystrica, Spišská Nová Ves, and Žilina, have implemented a new technology for the current winter season to improve ice quality.
The HIPPOTRON® ICE technology, developed by Boson Distribution SE, uses electromagnetic waves to physically treat water without the use of chemicals. This process aims to create smoother, harder, and more durable ice that is more resistant to cracking.
According to the company, the method is designed to meet the high standards required by professional athletes while also reducing the energy costs associated with ice cooling. The technology is currently being used in 45 stadiums across Europe.
