Slovak Interior Minister criticizes European protests and radar scandal

Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok has addressed growing public discontent across Europe, specifically noting recent protests in Italy, France, and Germany. Commenting on social media, the minister stated that officials should focus more on citizens' concerns, such as rising living costs and the state of public services, rather than political experiments or military spending. He highlighted recent unrest in Frankfurt, where protests reportedly escalated into looting and attacks on police.

Separately, the opposition party Progressive Slovakia has criticized the government regarding a scandal involving the purchase of Russian-origin radar cameras for Slovak roads. Despite the National Security Authority confirming the equipment posed a security risk, the former director of the applications department, who was held accountable for the project, is reportedly set to take a new leadership role at the National Personalization Center of the Ministry of Interior starting November 2026. The opposition characterized this move as a promotion rather than a disciplinary measure.
