Slovak ministers visit Sydney for community event and memorial

Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanár and Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova are conducting a working trip to Australia. During their visit to Sydney, the ministers attended an expatriate evening at the Czech and Slovak community club. The event featured cultural performances by the Lucnica folklore ensemble, the Stonozka ensemble, and the band Kukabura.

Minister Blanár also visited a memorial site for the victims of the antisemitic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach. He expressed solidarity with the victims' families and the Jewish community, specifically offering condolences to the son of Marika Poganyová, an 82-year-old Slovak-Australian citizen killed in the attack. Blanár emphasized Slovakia's rejection of antisemitism, terrorism, and collective guilt.

Additionally, the ministers discussed potential cooperation in the civil nuclear sector. Blanár indicated that Slovakia is interested in sharing its long-term expertise in nuclear research and connecting Slovak research institutions and companies with Australian partners, following a visit to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO).
