Slovak Ministry of Interior and officer Juraj Svítok in legal dispute over job placement

A legal dispute continues between the Slovak Ministry of Interior and police officer Juraj Svítok regarding his professional placement. Following court rulings, Svítok is seeking to return to a position comparable to his former role within the police inspection service.

The Ministry of Interior claims that Svítok’s original position no longer formally exists and has requested approval from the Office for the Protection of Whistleblowers to assign him to a different existing role. The Ministry noted that Svítok previously refused alternative placements, resulting in a legal state where he holds no function, performs no state service, and receives no income.

Svítok’s lawyer, Peter Kubina, has accused the Ministry of unwillingness to resolve the matter. Kubina argues that the original position effectively still exists and suggests that the Ministry could implement a reorganization process similar to the one used during Svítok’s dismissal to reinstate him. Alternatively, the lawyer states that adequate positions within the police force are available, and the resolution depends on the Minister’s decision.
