Slovak MP František Majerský sues Tibor Gašpar over corruption allegations

The District Court in Nitra was scheduled to address a lawsuit filed by KDH Member of Parliament František Majerský against Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tibor Gašpar (Smer-SD). The legal action concerns statements made by Gašpar in June 2025 regarding Majerský’s voting record on a constitutional amendment.

During a parliamentary session, Gašpar suggested that Majerský had either been intimidated or “bought,” explicitly mentioning corruption. Majerský contends these claims are false, unsubstantiated, and have damaged his reputation and credibility as a public official. He argues that while political criticism is expected, accusations of corruption should not be used as a “political shortcut” without evidence.

Majerský is seeking a court ruling to declare the statements false, an apology, a cessation of further dissemination of the claims, and financial compensation. Tibor Gašpar excused himself from the scheduled court hearing.
