Slovak musical performances and SNP celebrations announced

Divadlo Nová scéna (DNS) will mark the start of its 80th jubilee season with outdoor musical concerts at Bratislava Castle on August 21 and 22. The galas, titled ‘Od operety k muzikálu 2’, will feature a selection of international and Slovak musical hits, including ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘West Side Story’, and ‘Mamma Mia!’. The performances will include DNS soloists, an orchestra, a choir, and a dance ensemble.

On August 23, the musical celebrations continue with a performance by children from the DNS Children's Musical Stage. The event series has become a popular summer cultural staple in Bratislava, combining historical settings with live musical performances.

Separately, singer Nela Pocisková is set to be the headline musical act for the 82nd anniversary celebrations of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) in Banská Bystrica on August 29. Performing alongside the Banská Bystrica Military Band, her concert will serve as the afternoon highlight of the state-organized event.
