Slovak Parliament to debate Vision Slovakia 2040 and new Civil Code
The National Council of the Slovak Republic is set to resume its 61st parliamentary session this week, addressing over 200 agenda items. A primary focus is the strategic document ‘Vizia Slovensko 2040: Cesta ku kvalitnejšiemu životu’ (Vision Slovakia 2040: A Path to a Better Life), developed by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Prime Minister Robert Fico and Academy President Martin Venhart are expected to present the material.
Other significant legislative matters include a proposal for a new Civil Code, amendments to pharmaceutical policy, and enhanced protections against new drugs. The Ministry of Education has proposed a law regarding an integrated protection system against radicalization, which includes regulating social media use for children under 16.
Additionally, the Ministry of Justice is presenting a constitutional amendment that would allow for the termination of a parliamentary term through a popular vote. The agenda also covers veterinary care legislation, environmental fund amendments, and adjustments to foreign service benefits.
