Slovak police conduct international human trafficking and weapons smuggling raids

Slovak authorities, including the Bureau of Organized Crime (ÚBOK), have conducted significant operations targeting human trafficking and illegal arms smuggling.

In a coordinated international effort involving Europol and the European Labour Authority across 34 countries, Slovak police inspected 37 companies and 323 individuals. While the global operation identified 248 potential victims and 27 suspects, Slovak officers did not identify any potential victims during their specific local checks. Slovak statistics for the year show 45 human trafficking cases involving 68 victims, including 50 children.

In a separate operation codenamed Obchodník 2, police dismantled an international weapons smuggling gang that had been operating in Slovakia since at least May 2024. Investigators are documenting the illegal acquisition of 835 firearms, accessories, and large quantities of ammunition. The group allegedly used legitimate companies with arms licenses to purchase weapons in Slovakia before redirecting them to organized crime networks in the United Kingdom, Poland, and Spain.
