Slovak police warn of fraudulent charity donation boxes

Slovak police are warning the public about fraudulent donation boxes appearing in high-traffic tourist areas, particularly in northern Slovakia. An unknown perpetrator has placed these boxes alongside posters designed to mimic legitimate charitable collections intended to help a seriously ill boy.

The police in Veľké Zálužie have filed a criminal complaint regarding the infringement of third-party rights. Authorities noted that the scheme exploits the public's willingness to help families in difficult life situations.

Police advise citizens and tourists to verify the organizer and the specific purpose of any collection before contributing. If a suspicious box is encountered, individuals are encouraged to report its location via the emergency line 158. People who have already donated or possess information regarding the destination of the funds are urged to contact any police department or the District Police Department in Veľké Zálužie.
