Slovak President Peter Pellegrini visits China for talks with Xi and tech tours

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini began a three‑day state visit to the People’s Republic of China, the first such trip in 16 years. Invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping, he also met Premier Li Qiang and Chairman Zhao Le‑ting of the National People’s Congress. The leaders discussed deepening Slovak‑Chinese ties, including high‑value investment, cooperation in science, research, industry, transport, logistics, agriculture and tourism, as well as broader EU‑China relations.

During the visit Pellegrini toured major Chinese technology hubs, notably the headquarters of Baidu, a global leader in artificial intelligence, cloud services and autonomous mobility, and the Robot Mall, the world’s first centre dedicated to commercial applications of humanoid robots. The itinerary builds on a strategic partnership forged during a 2024 Slovak government delegation to Beijing.
