Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico Vetoes Ukraine Aid Amid NATO Summit Talks
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that Slovakia will not take part in a multibillion‑dollar aid package for Ukraine that is expected to be agreed at the NATO summit in Ankara. He warned that further military financing could trigger escalation and cited the risk of accidental incidents leading to a broader conflict.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak‑Kamysz said Poland will block Ukraine’s accession to the European Union unless Kyiv abandons support for the historic Ukrainian Nationalist Organization and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. He stressed that Poland will decide independently on EU enlargement and that no other country can dictate how it votes on accession matters.
