Slovak Prosecutor questions Minister Rudolf Huliak over corruption claims
Slovak Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka has released details regarding the interrogation of Minister of Tourism and Sport Rudolf Huliak. The questioning followed Huliak’s public allegations concerning the massive embezzlement of state assets and organized crime within the country.
During the interrogation, Huliak admitted that he possesses no direct information regarding specific criminal activities. He stated that his claims, including the assertion that 40% of state property is being embezzled, were based solely on summaries of media reports and social media content. Huliak further clarified that when he referred to “partners” in his statements, he meant fellow ministers who have been questioned by journalists.
This development follows Huliak’s public accusations of prosecutorial inaction regarding two criminal complaints he filed in March. Huliak questioned why the prosecution acted quickly to interrogate him regarding his public statements but has not progressed on his specific complaints. Prosecutor General Žilinka dismissed Huliak’s claims of inaction as “false and demeaning,” asserting that the prosecution is acting strictly in accordance with the law.
