Slovak railway operator ZSSK adds festival stops and debates Rovinka station closure
Slovak Railways (ZSSK) will provide extra train stops at Bratislava‑Vajnory station for the Lovestream music festival weekend from 7 to 9 August. Three regional express services from Nové Zámky will stop on Friday, and three international Metropolitan trains from Budapest to Prague will add stops on Saturday and Sunday. Because the platform at Vajnory is short, passengers are advised to board the front carriage of each train, as explained by ZSSK spokesperson Ján Baček.
At the same time, a planned modernization of the Bratislava‑Komárno line includes a proposal to close the Rovinka railway station. The municipality, represented by Mayor Tomáš Káčer, opposes the closure, arguing that the stop is vital for the town’s 6,500 residents and future growth. The mayor plans to launch a petition and seek an independent assessment of passenger forecasts, urging authorities to modernise rather than eliminate the station.
