Slovak State Prize awarded to historian, physicist, and archbishop

Richard Raši, the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, presented the Jozef Miloslav Hurban State Prize to three prominent figures at Bratislava Castle. The laureates represent diverse fields of Slovak social, scientific, academic, and spiritual life.

The recipients are historian and professor Jozef Leikert, physicist Štefan Luby, and Greek Catholic Archbishop Cyril Vasiľ. Leikert was recognized for his lifelong contribution to education, culture, and historical memory, having served as Slovakia’s first university professor of culturology.

In his address, Raši noted that while the laureates come from different professional backgrounds, they are united by work that transcends their specific fields to benefit society as a whole. He emphasized that these individuals serve as contemporary role models for future generations.
