Slovak taxi driver wakes from coma after brutal stabbing attack

A 48-year-old taxi driver from Sereď, Slovakia, has regained consciousness after spending weeks in a coma following a brutal attack. The victim, identified as Rasťo, suffered 13 stab wounds that damaged vital organs, including his lungs, liver, and eyes.

The incident occurred during the night of August 5–6, when two 17-year-old males entered the taxi and attacked the driver at a local campsite. The attackers reportedly stole mobile phones and a wallet containing cash. Police apprehended the two suspects, identified as Denis D. and Samuel Š., in Bratislava, and both are currently in custody facing charges of attempted murder.

After being stabilized at the Trnava University Hospital, the driver has been transferred to a hospital in Galanta for continued treatment and rehabilitation. His wife, Veronika, reported that while he remains weak, he is conscious and can recall details of the attack, which may assist investigators.
