Slovak teachers face high stress levels due to workload

Data from the League for Mental Health (LDZ) 'Pohodomer' program indicates that nearly half of Slovak teachers experience significant stress. Specifically, 47 percent of educators reported that workload and poor work-life balance caused them stress in the preceding two weeks.

Furthermore, 37 percent of teachers feel their schools do not encourage open discussions regarding mental health. The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth (MŠVVaM) noted that communication with parents and within the school environment are major contributors to this burden. In response, the Ministry has introduced a 'School Communication Map' to improve internal and external interactions.

The Ministry is also working on a national project titled 'Data on Mental Health' focused on students, while preparing systematic investigations into the mental well-being of pedagogical and professional staff.
