Slovak television revives major entertainment formats

Slovak television is seeing a resurgence of major entertainment formats. The game show ‘5 proti 5’ has returned to STVR after a four-year hiatus with a new host, Andy Kraus. Kraus replaces Andrej Bičan and has stated his intention to bring an authentic, improvisational style to the show rather than imitating his predecessor. The production promises a modernized format including updated musical elements and special rounds.

Simultaneously, Markíza has relaunched the singing competition ‘SuperStar’ after a five-year break. The new season introduces rule changes, such as the ‘Golden Room’ and the ‘Golden Ticket’ system, and a jury where all four members hold equal weight. While the show features contestants like Luisa and Nikolaš Draškovič, the new jury composition—consisting of Pavol Habera, Ewa Farna, Jakub Prachař, and Calin—has drawn criticism from viewers. Many fans expressed dissatisfaction on social media regarding the lack of Slovak personalities on the panel, noting that Habera is the sole Slovak representative.
